International Institute for Ecological Agriculture - Teaching about the beauty and value of alcohol fuel. Henry Ford used alcohol to run his first vehicles, but with the advent of Standard Oil, alcohol fuel was pushed aside. Alcohol fuel can be made for as little as $1.00 a gallon. But even better than that, alcohol fuel burns clean - leaving no toxic emissions in our environment! We have all the technology right now to produce this highly renewable fuel: we can use kelp, waste products - all of those salmonella poisoned cookie dough, peanut butter and pistachio bakery products that end up in land fills could be used. The beautiful cat tail plant is also an option. When cat tails are used as in sewage waste treatment they act as a bio-re-mediator, removing many toxins from the water along with the estrogenic compounds - which then can be used to make alcohol! Permaculturist David Blume advocates going beyond sustainable agriculture to “regenerative” agriculture which surpasses sustainability for improving the land and providing enough food and fuel to economically support local communities.
